AUTISM SERVICE DOGS
ASA Service Dogs specializes in training Autism Service Dogs (ASDs) for children and adults with autism.
Autism Service Dogs are one of our primary areas of focus, and we are passionate about helping individuals and families discover the many ways a properly trained service dog can improve daily life. Every individual with autism is unique, which is why we customize each dog's training plan to meet the specific needs of the recipient.
An Autism Service Dog is a specially trained service dog that assists an individual with autism through trained tasks, grounding, familiarity, structure, routine, and increased independence. Autism Service Dogs can work with both children and adults and can be trained to assist in a variety of ways depending on the recipient's goals, strengths, and challenges.
Whether an individual needs assistance with confidence, social interaction, communication, emotional regulation, daily routines, public access, grounding, or independence, a service dog can be trained to provide meaningful support. Because every recipient is different, every training plan is customized to the individual.

Customized for Each Individual

No two individuals with autism are exactly alike, and neither are their service dogs.
Some recipients may benefit from a dog that helps them navigate public environments with greater confidence. Others may need assistance with routine, grounding, familiarity, or behavior interruption. Some young adults benefit from the responsibility and structure that comes with caring for a service dog, while others may rely more heavily on trained tasks that assist them throughout the day.
Because every recipient's needs are different, we work to develop a customized training plan designed specifically for the individual receiving the dog.
Confidence, Independence, and Quality of Life
One of the greatest benefits of an Autism Service Dog is the confidence and independence they can help build over time.
For some recipients, a service dog becomes a bridge to increased social interaction and communication. For others, the dog provides familiarity, grounding, and a sense of security in unfamiliar environments. Many recipients experience increased confidence when participating in community activities, attending school, going to work, traveling, or navigating everyday life with their service dog by their side.
Service dogs can also provide peace of mind for family members by helping create consistency, routine, and additional layers of support throughout the day.
More Than a Service Dog
For many recipients and families, an Autism Service Dog becomes much more than a working dog.
They become a trusted companion, a source of stability, and a family member. Whether helping a child feel safer in new environments, supporting a teenager as they develop independence, or assisting an adult with everyday challenges, Autism Service Dogs can have a profound impact on quality of life.
At ASA Service Dogs, we are proud to specialize in Autism Service Dogs and are committed to creating training plans that help each recipient reach their fullest potential.
